was established in 1970 to provide state-of-the-art care in ophthalmology in a physical facility second to none. We realize that you have only one set of eyes, and they deserve the best. From the moment you walk through the door it will be apparent to you that we take this responsibility seriously. With the very finest technology available, and a caring and professional staff, we are dedicated to medical and surgical excellence. In particular, in laser vision correction (LASIK and PRK), Dr. Gollance is at the forefront of new innovations coming from the VISX and Alcon Ladar manufacturers. Through these relationships he can stay ahead of the present techniques. He does in fact serve on advisory panels within the field. Dr. Mishler is called on to help perfect the techniques of other cataract surgeons.
The scope of expertise at the Eye Institute is considerable. Our doctors have both served on Medical School faculties and have been pioneers in the Wayne area for lens implantation, phacoemulsification cataract surgery and refractive surgery (11 years). We never stop in our pursuit of new and improved techniques. Our scope of activity includes not only laser vision correction (LASIK and PRK), but also comprehensive regular examinations, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, cataract surgery, the treatment of medical eye conditions like dry eye, etc. Additionally we have a very active contact lens program. (Our doctors have in fact served on advisory panels to contact lens manufacturers.) We maintain a full-service optical facility which produces top-quality eye glasses from the leading lens and frame manufacturers.
Our state-of-the-art facility is only as good as its personnel. They are among the finest anywhere. In particular they have taught their colleagues at New Jersey State Ophthalmology Meetings. We have Certified Ophthalmic Technicians and Assistants on the staff who are familiar with the highly technical procedures that we do.
Very importantly the staff is dedicated to making the patient feel "at home." This translates to making the patient feel comfortable and safe. Our motto is, "we don't treat eyes, we treat people."
